Elder Van Dyke's Mission Site

Starting on November 16, 2011, Leighton will report to the Missionary Training Center in Provo, Utah to begin serving a full-time, two year full-time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. After three weeks, he will report to the California Los Angeles Mission to teach the gospel in English.

We are extremely excited for Leighton to serve in this capacity. We'll be using this website to keep everyone posted on his progress, including any letters, photos, or other news & events that you might be interested in. Also, feel free to write him anytime from here, as well.

About Leighton's Mission:
The California Los Angeles Mission has been around since 1846, and was originally the California Mission (the fifth mission established by the LDS Church) located in San Francisco. After the devastation of the 1906 earthquake, the mission was relocated to Los Angeles. The mission headquarters was moved to the grounds of the Los Angeles Temple when it was completed in 1955. There are currently 7 active missions in California; Leighton's mission covers Los Angeles, Hollywood, Anaheim, Inglewood, Santa Monica, and parts of Compton. Go to their mission site for a detailed history.
